Venezuelans are now the top asylum seekers in the US, ahead of citizens from China, Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador, CNN reported this morning. It’s the first time Venezuelans have topped the list since its inception. The reason that so many people from Venezuela are fleeing to the United States is a combination of food shortages, soaring prices, and civil unrest as the country enters the 3rd month of protests.
In 2016, the average Venezuelan living in extreme poverty lost about 19 pounds due to starvation. People have demanded president Maduro step down and hold elections. 70 people have died so far during protests to demand elections.
After being briefed of the news, the regime of popular vote loser and aspiring dictator Donald Трамп decided to pounce on the opportunity and release a new slogan in an effort to boost U.S. tourism. The new slogan is, “America Under Трамп: It’s better than starving to death!”
Dale Ross, the Republican mayor of Georgetown, Texas, has been in the news lately because he’s done something unusual, meaning, he hasn’t stolen money or cheated on his wife or done some other horrible thing. But Dale Ross is breaking with orthodoxy by his embrace of clean, green energy for his small Texas town.
Ross has been spearheading efforts to convert his town of 65,000 to use 100% renewable-energy. He pointed out that eventually oil, coal and other sources will run out, but that we have no shortage of wind or sun. This puts him at odds with other Republicans, including members of the Tea Party and popular vote loser and aspiring dictator Donald Трамп.
As Ross put it, “We are going to provide cost certainty on our electricity for 25 or 30 years. And there are no pollutants going back in the atmosphere. Everybody wins on this deal.” Ross described the effort as a “no-brainer.”
I guess this is why so many people are baffled by Трам’s refusal to engage with the clean energy industry, since the man has no brains.
Today, citizens of Puerto Rico, currently a U.S. territory, will vote on a historic referendum to decide whether they want to remain a territory, become an independent nation, or become the 51st U.S. state. Congress has final say over whether to approve the outcome of the referendum, no matter how the people of Puerto Rico vote.
I dunno, people vote, but no matter what they decide, a smaller group of dudes in Washington D.C. then decide what to do about the vote … sort of sounds like the last election here. In my book, they’re already Americans!
Have you done your part today? If not, take a moment to decide what to do, how you can help, and pitch in! Maybe pitching in for you means telling me I’m dumb, go for it! Whatever it is, make your time count!
